The Board
Richard Toolen
Mr. Richard Toolen is CEO of Icon and founded the firm in 2006 with proprietary trading colleagues who originally met and worked together at Daiwa Securities Europe in Frankfurt in the late 1990s. Richard has a BA in Economics with honours from Boston University and was awarded an M.B.A. in Finance with honours from New York University. After Daiwa, Richard headed desks at boutique trading houses in Dublin, Munich and Gibraltar before founding Icon as a regulated Swiss entity to expand the scope of the team’s activities to include Multi-Asset trading on behalf of Qualified Investors and to conduct private wealth management activities. Morten Bøsterud
Dr. Dr. Morten Bøsterud has assumed the role of ICON non-executive Chairman effective January 1, 2024.

Morten Bøsterud Phd, DBA, PhD, is a Norwegian citizen and during his more than 30 year career has worked internationally as a commercial lawyer and in corporate finance, managing private equity investments as a Partner in a leading Norwegian P/E firm.
Morten was admitted to the Norwegian bar in 1992 and has since earned an MTS and doctorate degrees in Business Administration and Ethics (Theology). Dr. Bosterud is a published author in the field of ethics, with specific areas of interest in banking, ecology, and animal welfare and is also a qualified agronomist.
He has founded, operated, and sold companies in various fields, including real estate, shipping, manning, oil services, and health services.
Philip O’Keefe
Mr. Philip O’Keefe is Chief Risk Officer & Legal Officer and a Supervisory Board Member providing Icon with a wealth of legal and regulatory compliance experience. Philip has previously held directorships at Jardine Lloyd Thompson PLC in both legal and central operations and provided legal services to Janus Henderson Investors and a number of other asset and wealth managers. Philip has also worked extensively in the insurance, defence and nuclear sectors.
After serving with the British Army in Rwanda and Northern Ireland Philip read double law at Oxford Brookes and was awarded an LL.B with Honours. Philip’ postgraduate study was International Nuclear Law at the University of Montpellier. Philip studied the Bar Professional Training Course and is a member of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple
Compliance
Michelle Addison
Michelle is ICON Compliance and Projects Manager. She spends her time dealing with the challenging world of increasing compliance regulations in the financial services industry. Michelle began her career in the 1990s as a paralegal in Vancouver, Canada. In 2007, she moved to Zurich after a short time on the Isle of Man with Appleby in their Corporate Commercial department. She obtained her STEP Diploma in International Trust Management (TEP) while working for Schroder Trust AG and has also held roles in small Swiss fiduciaries and asset managers as a Trust Officer, Compliance Officer and Customer Services Manager. Since 2011, Michelle has also been an active Board Member of the Erich Burckhardt Foundation.
